Award-winning private healthcare provider, My Healthcare Clinic offers personalised medical, dental and specialist private healthcare under one roof. With an ambitious expansion plan and roll-out programme underway, the clinic acquired new premises – an extraordinary property located in Wimpole Street, situated in London’s world-renowned Harley Street district.
This exclusive and illustrious London address, rich in heritage, grand in architecture and internationally renowned for its unique concentration of high-quality private hospitals, clinics, and medical associations, provides a unique third location for My Healthcare Clinic and their growing portfolio – whilst positioning the clinic firmly at the epicentre of UK private healthcare.
Retail Experience Design’s brief was to implement the existing MyHealthcare Clinic concept into the new space...
…however, the Edwardian building and architecture required much more than a concept roll-out to successfully integrate into this extraordinary and unique physical space.
Having successfully delivered their Fulham clinic, Retail Experience Design were appointed by MyHealthcare Clinic as ‘strategic design lead’ to take responsibility for all elements of the design and implementation for their third clinic.
As specialists in the design of clinical and medical environments, Retail Experience Design have a deep understanding of achieving successful space and interior design in specialist clinical environments, yet this historic building challenged our creative thinking and approach to space design. What’s more, the basement location added further design complexities with space, configuration, specialist equipment, and logistics, as well as patient/customer flow.
The design approach worked hard to achieve a juxtaposition – contrasting the grand Edwardian period characteristics and architecture with the flawless appearance and aesthetics expected with a state-of-the-art, prestigious, modern and personable healthcare facility.
What we delivered
The structural integrity of the building and pre-determined structures played an intrinsic part in the overall design. The unique environment demanded meticulous and highly specialist space planning to make unusual pockets of space practical and useful.
The evolution of the concept allowed for the intelligent layout of space to include 3 Dentist Labs, 1 Decontamination Lab, 1 Scanner Room, Minor surgeries area and 2 GP rooms. With an added emphasis on lighting to ensure the basement appeared bright and airy, the reception area achieved a feeling of grandeur, welcoming, and warmness.
Retail Experience Design developed detailed drawing pack, specification and costing document to assist MyHealthcare Clinic in the competitive tender process for the refurbishment works.
